“So I recommend having fun, because there is nothing better for people in this world than to eat, drink, and enjoy life. That way they will experience some happiness along with all the hard work God gives them under the sun.”
~ Ecclesiastes 8:15, NLT
As I enter into a busy week, I remember that I need to make time for fun. As my last post said, I need to live beyond the “surface of life.”
What fun is it to enjoy life alone? I enjoy time alone. Time to throw on my comfy clothes, pick up a book, sew, or just ponder the beauty of creation. But, work and alone time don’t satisfy me. I find joy and contentment within the thick of relationships. There, I find laughter and inspiration. There is “nothing better” than to enjoy life with others.
So, this work week, I look forward to being intentional about enjoying life–with my husband, with the friends I will see this evening, with my colleagues at work. I will look for windows of opportunity and grab them–rather than begging off because my “to do” list tells me to focus on work.
This week I will seek balance. I will work hard so that I may throw off the shawl of guilt that might cover the joy, and I will intentionally seek opportunities for joy.
Balance. Joy. Happiness. Love. Fun.
Life as God intended.
